Background
The European Coalition for People living with Obesity (ECPO) is a non-profit collaborative and the leading organisation dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by and living with obesity across Europe. By bringing together patients, healthcare professionals, educators, and other stakeholders, ECPO aims to unite the European region, where understanding, resources, and support converge to make a significant impact with a greater focus on health throughout the life course of the disease.
The Problem
Before collaborating with More Time To, ECPO faced significant challenges. The original ECPO website was a variation of their parent organisation EASO’s site and was never truly tailored to meet their specific requirements. Following their independence from EASO, the site no longer functioned well, hindering their ability to use it effectively for communication and information sharing.
The Solution
The project aimed to provide ECPO with a modern, up-to-date website that reflected their brand and allowed them to manage content easily in-house. Key features included the ability to create regular blog posts, list information about their campaigns, and maintain an advocacy database.
More Time To created the site using a popular WordPress framework and employed custom post types to enable ECPO to manage hundreds of pieces of content throughout the site efficiently. The project was delivered in one stage, utilizing WordPress with custom post types and dynamic maps to enhance functionality and user experience.
Outcomes
The outcomes of the project have been highly successful. The new site now has a modern feel and structure tailored to ECPO’s specific requirements. It is easier to manage, with improved accessibility, sustainability, and SEO. In the four months since the new site launched, traffic has increased by 37% compared to the same period in the previous year, with page views increasing by 40%.
Ken Clare, Chair of ECPO, provided positive feedback, stating, “Chris understands about obesity and has worked with other Healthcare Membership Organisations. He understands the language and imagery we use, communicating things like this to someone who doesn’t is an uphill struggle.”
Additional Information
While the project did not involve especially innovative features, it included a unique aspect: the language translation will use machine learning to dynamically translate content on the fly.
The long-term impact of the project has been very positive. ECPO now has their own site, built to their brand and structure specifications, which is simple for them to manage and update. More Time To is also looking into creating online training for ECPO, as well as delivering a multilingual version of the site.
Chris is honest and I trust him. He’s an extended part of our team, even though he’s not in it.
“Where Chris is so useful is that he is hugely responsive, I send More Time To something and it’s done quickly. He knows the technicalities of websites and how to make them work, technically Chris gives you a brilliant solution.”
